Selena Gomez’s Net Worth is $50 Million; How Did She Earn Her Fortune?
One of the stars that we actually saw growing up before our eyes is Selena Gomez – from her “Barney & Friends” days, where we witnessed a bubbly little girl singing with the purple dinosaur, to being Alex Russo in the Disney show “Wizards of Waverly Place,” to producing her own albums that are sources of chart-topping hits – the multi-hyphenated young woman certainly made her own name in the entertainment industry.
Considering her accomplishments, it’s no wonder that the “Wolves” singer is earning millions, after all, she works hard for it. She’s one of the most successful female entertainers of her time and as off last year, her net worth is valued at $50 million. You may wonder how she has managed to rake in that kind of money, well, here is how she had built her massive empire of wealth.
Acting Jobs
Unlike other children who were born to actor-parents, Gomez carved her own name in the show business, first landing a role in “Barney & Friends” in 2002 as Gianna, which would ignite her 15-year career with the entertainment. We didn’t just see a curly haired, smiley-face little star at the time, we also saw her potential even at a young age when she was reportedly earning $3,000 per show.
It was during her “Barney & Friends” stint where she would meet her friend Demi Lovato, who would later on become a Disney child star, like Gomez herself. Five years down the line, she would bag a bigger role with Disney’s “Wizards of the Waverly Place,”, making her richer by $30,000 per episode – add to that, the fantasy comedy show ran for five years, so just imagine how much she made out of it.
After the show wrapped up in 2012, Gomez began deviating from her Disney child star image by venturing into other characters, usually more mature ones, in a series of films including “Monte Carlo” and “Spring Breakers.”
Love for Music
Just as her acting career was flourishing, Gomez started focusing on her music as well with her band The Scene, who released their first album in 2009. The musical group was on a roll at the time, feeling their blossoming music career and went on to create two other albums in the years leading to their disbandment in 2012.
A year later, Gomez returned with a solo album called “Stars Dance,” which, paired with a tour, reportedly earned her $11 million. Gomez had to take a break from the music and acting scenes altogether because she was diagnosed with lupus, but she came back stronger and with a bang – an album called “The Heart Wants What It Wants” in 2014. By the next year, she again released an album called “Revival.”
Producing
Besides singing, Gomez has also established her status as a talented actress, making her a complete package in the entertainment industry. But not a lot of people know that she is also good behind the camera. The 26-year-old has tried her luck in producing her first Netflix Original series “13 Reasons Why” which was a whopping success.
By 2017, Gomez became the showrunner of the hit series, which was met with a lot of criticisms and being the executive producer, she was one of those who had to act and think fast on how to address the backlash the show received even after it was critically acclaimed. “13 Reasons Why” became a hot pot of controversy because it touched on a sensitive matter that may trigger those who are emotionally vulnerable.
The show was granted a second season despite all the opposition and backlash, although it had to make several changes, including airing a warning clip just before an episode starts. Even with all the rubble, another season meant more money for Gomez
Endorsements
Because Gomez, as mentioned, is one of the most influential stars of today, there is no wonder she’s been getting tapped by big brands to model for them. Her social media presence is also outstanding, having been the most followed person on Instagram for a time, so definitely she’s one of the most effective advertisers there is now.
One of her most lucrative partnership was with Puma, where she is a spokesperson for, which, according to reports, gives her $30 million. That’s not all, she is also an endorser for Coach. As for being the queen of social media, she allegedly earns $800,000 per post.
