Avengers: Endgame Broke a New Box-Office Record Surpassing Avatar’s Ten-Year Title

Since its release on April 26, 2019 in the United States, Avengers: Endgame has been breaking several box office records. And just like what everybody expected, it finally surpassed Avatar’s ten-year-record as the highest-grossing film of all time.

The New Box-Office King

Avengers: Endgame surpassed Avatar’s $2.789-billion record, making it the world’s highest-grossing film of all time

It first debuted in Los Angeles on April 22, 2019, and received numerous acclaims since then. The critics commended its remarkable direction, realistic visual effects, well-timed musical arrangement, and emotional weight. Adding all those important elements together, the film grossed more than $2.79 billion across the globe.

James Cameron Passed the Crown

James Cameron directed the former highest-grossing film of all time, Avatar

James Cameron’s sci-fi movie Avatar held the title for a decade with a total revenue of $2.789 billion. The director congratulated the makers of Avengers: Endgame as it beat his film’s record on a tweet. Aside from being the box-office champ, Endgame holds a world record for amassing over $1 billion on its first week.

Avengers: Endgame Pre-Sale Records

Even before the film premiered, it broke several records in different countries. Tickets were immediately sold-out during its pre-sale in China within its first six hours surpassing Infinity War’s 24-hour record. The tickets sale in India was also tremendous as the cinemas were able to sell eighteen tickets per second on its first day of release.

The internet went crazy about the pre-sale tickets in the United States on April 2, 2019. Ticketing companies such as Fandango, Atom Tickets, and AMC Theaters experienced system delays and downtime due to an intensive high volume of people accessing the sites all at the same time. It exceeded Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ pre-selling record vending out more than 8,000 tickets across the United States.
