The Most Expensive Restaurants In The World
What do we not do to have a life of sheer luxuries and sinful pleasures? Yet, that kind of life is not for all of us for neither can we afford them nor do we have the luxury of spending our time doing so. Of course, it is a completely different situation for the rich and the privileged! Most of them have worked really hard to get to the place they have reached today, and no wonder they can treat themselves often — and in the most unusual ways possible! We know how many of these billionaires actually lead a frugal life, too, but yes, there are people who spend their money buying uber luxurious cars, private jets, private islands, and whatnot!
So, for those who love to spend their money on the good things in life, here are some of the most unusual yet luxurious restaurants. Whether they’re worth it for you or not, the once-in-a-lifetime experience will be something you will remember for the rest of your life.
Ithaa Restaurant, Maldives
Talking of unusual restaurants, Ithaa fits the bill perfectly. Not only is it one of the most expensive restaurants in the world, it is also situated in the quirkiest location possible. Want to know where it is? Well, it is located 16 feet below sea level in the middle of the Indian Ocean! Though it may be truly difficult to have your dinner when you have so much to look at, the menu doesn’t disappoint. Spicy sea snails and veal tenderloin are the specialties here. Part of the Conrad Maldives Rangali Resort, the place can seat only 14 people, hence, reservations are a must. Unfortunately, we hear the place is heading towards erosion and will stop existing in ten more years! So you gotta hurry! Make sure you have plenty in your purse for you might have to shell out $320 for an entrée.
Sublimotion, Ibiza, Spain
Located at the Hard Rock Hotel in Ibiza, Sublimotion has been the talk of the town for a couple of years now. The restaurant is run by two-Michelin star chef Paco Roncero who is known for using molecular gastronomy in making his meals. As fancy as it sounds, Sublimotion will set you back by $2000 bucks, and only 12 people can be served at one time. So what’s the big deal here? Trust us, it is a totally futuristic experience that would appeal to your senses like no other meal. It is a complete package where cuisine meets art, music, and illusion. Last year, Paco Roncero teamed up with other celebrity chefs, and now, you can have a meal here that would be worth 8 Michelin stars.
Alaine Ducasse Plaza Athenee, Paris
If you like glitz and glamor, Alaine Ducasse in Paris is just the place we have in mind for you. With a huge chandelier decorated with thousands of crystals hanging overhead, you get to enjoy your meal in steel-encased sitting areas. The menu is made up of several very rare ingredients, and if you are looking to splurge in the City Of Lights, here is your chance. Of course, you need to have at least $1200 for two people if you are heading their way.
Masa, New York
A sushi restaurant at the Time Warner Center in New York is the next in our list. The chef’s choice of meals will cost about $600 per person; not surprising, considering the fact that it is run by celebrity chef Masa Takayama. The décor is authentic, and the place has even utilized a rare kind of wood for the sushi bar which was brought all the way from Japan (it probably costs a fortune, too!). Fish and traditional ingredients used in the food are also flown from Japan. With that level of Japanese authenticity in the west, it’s no wonder why this restaurant is one of the most expensive!
Kitcho in Kyoto, Japan
Run by award-winning chef Kunio Tokuoka, the ambiance here is kept purely Japanese. The goal is to provide healthy and hygienic food to patrons. They take fine-dining seriously, and this place is an absolute joy for food-lovers who wish to partake an absolutely unique gastronomic adventure. Tables face the beautiful garden, and there are low mats to keep the traditional ambiance in place. The one at Arashiyama, by the water, is often called the prettiest eatery in Japan. Just make sure you are fully loaded when you go there!
So, if you want to taste what it is like to be a billionaire, why not save up and visit one of these places for an out-of-this-world meal?
